Product Description

Running quietly and efficiently, this fully portable, 20-pint-capacity dehumidifier effectively handles room sizes up to 1300 square feet. The two systems for collecting condensation include either discharging moisture continuously with the water-reservoir bypass system or collecting moisture in the large tank. An audible signal and flashing LED alerts when the tank is full, while automatic overflow protection turns the dehumidifier off until the bucket is emptied. Other features include auto defrost and SmartTouch digital control, humidity display, and electronic sensor, which measures how much humidity is in a room then works just enough to counter it. A pivoting handle and durable castor wheels make this unit easy to store or transport from room to room. Filter Plus, a washable nylon filter plus odor-removing insert is included. The dehumidifier measures approximately 26 by 14 by 16 inches and carries a two-year limited warranty. --Catie Unger

humidifier-dehumidifier Bionaire BDQ24-UC 20-Pint Dehumidifier, White Works like a charm!

I can't begin the explain how great this machine is. I've had it for about a month and it has made a dramatic difference in my household. The style is very pleasing and fits into any room I place it in. The only minor problem I would say is the noise level. It can be a bit high, but I have gotten used to it and the noise just blends into the background.

I especially like the three humidity settings and the digital guage for the humidity level in the room. In addition, the unit comes with a built-in handle and casters to wheel it around. When the collection tank is full, the unit beeps once and flashes a light. Removing the tank and emptying it are much easier than I thought it would be. This unit is a pleasure to have and well worth the money. I think the Bionaire company has lived-up to its name with this machine.

I've owned other dehumidifiers that sound like 747's. This one is sooo quiet compared to them. There is no such thing as a silent dehumdifer, but this is as quiet as they get. When I got this my apartment was always wet. My bed and clothes always felt damp. I plugged this in and it said the humidty level in my room was 85%!!! I guess I was living in a swamp. I set this unit to keep the room at about 50% humidity and it worked great and made a huge difference. It was amazing how much water it took out of the air.

This has been a great purchase for us! We have an approx. 1100 sq. foot finished basement that was beginning to feel very humid. The humidity was running around 55% all the time in the summer and not much lower in the winter. This machine has brought the humidity down to 40-45% all the time (in the summer) and the basement now feels dry and comfortable. It is QUIET, easy to use and attractive. We have a humidistat accross the room from where the machine is and the humidity readings match so we find it to be very accurate. I would definitely reccomend this dehumidifier!

This dehumidifier works great! I love that it is quiet. It has many options re: how long you want it to run ie: continuous, economy, or at 2 different humidity levels. I don't like that the water container does not have a handle to carry in order to empty it, but it is a small enough water recepticle that I don't mind that much.

excellent dehumidifier, I use this in my basement shop.
When I plugged it in it began working, My basement shop is pretty damp.
I have to empty this unit everyday. This unit takes up 20 pints
of water a day in my basement and it's very quiet. It's also a energy star
so it's good on the electric bill
I would highly recommend this !

I have a small office, maybe 7 x 12, with a couple thousand books in it. The airconditioning is turned off at night, and the high humidity that results has for years made my office smell like it's rotting for four months a year. It was embarrassing and probably not healthy. So, after reading a lot of reviews, I bought one of these.

It worked great. It was much quieter than I expected--like a quiet fan. Some dehumidifiers put out a lot of heat and heat up a room many degrees. This put out air that was only a little warmer than room air. It sucked 2 gallons of water out of the air every day until the humidity dropped in early October. It would have sucked more, but the tank was always full when I came in every morning, and I don't know when it filled and turned off.

It kept my office at about 35% humidity, instead of 60%, and in a couple days the smell from the books was gone. This is an excellent choice for a similar situation. I used it continually for three months without any difficulty.

This is the best dehumidifier I have ever seen. I wanted to get a small one but we live in a very humid place in far northern California (California is not all sunshine and heat) and I needed something more powerful. The shape is nice and not too big. It is on wheels so I can roll it easily from room to room. It is so quiet! I didn't know they could be so quiet. It says the water tank will usually fill up in 3-4 days but ours fills in 1-2 days. It is amazing and our bathroom is no longer wet all day long. We actually had puddles on our windowsills before and not they are gone. I absolutely love it.

I use the Bionaire BDQ24 to dehumidify an 825 sq ft basement in New England. It gets rid of the musty "basement" smell, and makes the air very pleasant in summer. (It removes a full 20-pint container of humidity out of the air about once per day, all while being much quieter than a small air conditioner.) I've been running this unit 24 hrs per day for about half the year (late spring through early fall) for the past 2 years, with no problems whatsoever. If this unit ever dies, I hope the same model will still be around because I'll buy the same one again as a replacement.

I needed to air out my living space, which happens to be a barn, and the dampness was driving me crazy. I was tired of mold and that damp feeling. After only a few days, the dampness is practically gone and I've emptied it 3 times already, it pretty much fills up once a day. The auto shut-off has been working fine, too, as I read other people said it leaked, I haven't noticed anything. It's about as loud as a fan which is great because I need to keep it in my kitchen which has the damp problem the most and the noise doesn't bother me at all. I keep it on "continuous" (it has several modes to choose from) because the humidity dectector might be a little off, I don't really know, but it keeps filling up so there's definitely water for it to suck up! I would really recommend this especially if you need to look at it all the time and listen to it in a main room.
humidifier-dehumidifier Bionaire BDQ24-UC 20-Pint Dehumidifier, White No problems here!

Review Date: January 23, 2006
Reviewer: H. C. Hodges, California, USA
I live in an old house outside San Francisco where there is no central air or heating. During the summer, we leave the windows open because the weather is perfect, but in the winter and fall, we close up -- unfortunately, this means having a damp house because the bathroom and kitchen never dry up. Humidity was a new problem for me and I had never purchased a dehumidifer before, so I crossed my fingers and bought the Bionaire BDQ24-UC.

My first impression was "wow, it's bigger than I thought" (of course, this was my fault for not reading the dimensions on Amazon before ordering). However, it really isn't all that imposing. It fits neatly into our tiny bathroom, and doesn't stick out at all.

Secondly, the thing works like a champ. The economy mode is great for us, because we'd like to keep utilities low AND let our towels dry at night. The first night we had it on, it pulled out about 2-3 cups of water, and brought the relative humidity down to 50% from about 78%, on a night where it was about 50 °F. From my perspective, this was an overnight fix.

As far as the noise, I'm a very light sleeper; a drip from the bathroom faucet next to our bedroom will keep me up at night. The Bionaire is pretty quiet-- it's similar in volume to a window-unit air conditioner. So it doesn't keep me up at night, and I can watch movies in the next room without really noticing.

I gave it four out of five stars because the humidistat lags a bit (~20 min) when in economy mode -- while this really is not a big deal for me, I could imagine that a different design might work better for those who need an instant response. I can't attest to its long-term reliability because I only have the experience of a few weeks, but if you're concerned about that, then it does have a 2-year warranty. It ships with a receipt from Amazon, so be sure to hang on to that. Best of luck!

UPDATE (Jan. 2008): Two years later, it works great. A month ago, it seemed like it wasn't sensing the humidity so well. It turns out the air filter was clogged-- oops, I hadn't cleaned it since I bought it! I washed the filter in the sink and put it back on the machine still wet. Works like it did on day one. I recommend it very much still, and if I could give it 4.9 stars, I would.
humidifier-dehumidifier Bionaire BDQ24-UC 20-Pint Dehumidifier, White As quiet as they get. Works faithfully.

Mine has been working non-stop for 14 months now. It is much quieter than other dehumidifiers, because it has a turbine-like fan and a new cooling technology. It also seems to produce less heat than other dehumidifiers, although it does warm up the air (that's unavoidable). The only problem that I have found with this machine is the placement of the humidistat. The sensor for humidity is located inside it and gets dried out pretty quickly. As a result, the dehumidifier underestimates the humidity of the room, turns itself off too soon, and then will not turn itself on once the humidity goes up in the room. This is not a problem for me, because I need it to run non-stop. However, it would be a nuissance if you require precise control of the relative humidity.

I have read the all amozon reviews and bought this unit. We are living in a house, always feel dampy. We have a creek near by and a flat-roof on top has been making the environment worse. I turned it on, the humidity level was 86 so kept it on for a few days. WOW! I can feel and see a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I don't see any water on windows in the morning even. It seems, this unit is effective to the whole house. (Approx. 1200 sqft)The last thing we must to check is a electric bill, we haven't receive yet. other than that, I really recommend this unit. Runs quietly and does great job!

The Bionaire BDQ24-UC dehumidifier unit impressed me for a month - until it stopped working competely. The 30-day period had just expired so it was not possible to return the unit, however on contacting Bionaire directly and explaining the problem, they graciously agreed to send me a replacement unit. Hopefully, the new unit will last longer, but I can certainly vouch for excellent customer support from Bionaire should you encounter problems yourself. I found the unit more effective when set specifically to one of the % range settings - managing to remove several pints of water from the air daily. In the "economy" mode it was less effective - in fact would do very little. I also found it quiet - as advertised - without generating any adverse heat. I cannot compare to other dehumidifiers as this is my first, but provided my replacement unit lasts longer than the first, I would recommend it.

humidifier-dehumidifier DeLonghi DDE40E 40-Pint-Capacity Dehumidifier DeLonghi DDE40E 40-Pint-Capacity Dehumidifier

Review Date: October 4, 2007
Reviewer: J. Quist, Chicago suburbs, IL USA
I am rather surprised by the other reviews for this product. I purchased the DeLonghi DDE40E a month ago, because it had one of the best efficiency ratings I found in under-$200 units. This was a replacement for a 15-year-old Kenmore of slightly larger capacity. My basement is approximately 1000 square feet, unfinished. 400 sf is crawlspace, sealed with plastic sheet. It arrived with package damage, but the unit itself was undamaged.

Positives:

The unit is quite compact - the floor space required is less than for the unit it replaced - though of course this is really a minor consideration, as any free-standing dehumidifier requires a lot of space to allow for proper air circulation.

The condensate tank is "self-contained" in the unit, rather than hanging off the back. This was a big problem with the old unit - before we installed a drain hose, our cats would attempt to drink the water, or play with the water, and their frequent pushing on the bucket cycled the "full" switch, leading to the premature failure of the switch. With the DeLonghi, the water is not accessible when the tank is installed.

The unit is much quieter than our previous one, and quieter than others I have heard in the past. (I have no basis for comparison with current generation dehumidifiers.)

Performance seems adequate. When first installed, with the default settings, the bucket was filling approximately once every 22 hours.
Once the room was at a comfortable humidity, I increased the humidistat setting a bit, so now I'm going about 50 hours. Don't expect it to take a large room from 80% to 50% humidity in less than a couple of days - but do expect it to do so with minimal power consumption.

Negatives:

Noise level - with the fan set on high, it is a bit loud. When our furnace blower kicks on, however, you'd never notice it... Once the humidity stabilized, we switched the fan to low speed. My daughter watches movies sitting right next to it, and has not complained.

Tank installation is not as simple as one would like. The first time one of my teenagers tried to empty the bucket, assistance was required. It is possible to get the bucket in slightly cocked, which leaves the "tank full" alarm beeping. Also, to trip the "tank installed" switch, pressure is held on the tank with a large rubber band. I suspect this will require replacement some day. My guess is the reviewer who had the overflow problem had the tank installed incorrectly. I don't blame them - this seems to be the weakest point of this design. But - on the bright side - the unit shipped with a hose and spare plug so that you can drain directly from the tank into a floor drain. That's next on my honey-do list. (Note to cat owners: The included hose is soft vinyl. One of our cats manically chews clear vinyl hose wherever he finds it. If you have one of those, get a rubber hose from the hardware store!)

Regarding comments on accuracy of the humidistat: I have never, ever encountered a dehumidifier or humidifier intended for the consumer market with humidistat accuracy approaching that of a laboratory-grade hygrometer. And I have never encountered consumer-grade hygrometers with particularly good accuracy. Keep in mind that an accurate measurement, by the nature of these instruments, requires stable conditions over a period of several hours. Verifying accuracy while room humidity is changing is impossible. A hygrometer sitting on top of the dehumidifier is out of the air flow, and will almost certainly read higher than the dehumidifier setting - across the room would yield a more useful measure. Also, as a general operating principle for any dehumidifier, the humidistat setting covers a range - not an exact humidity level. If the range is too small, the compressor will cycle on and off more frequently, and on a light-duty unit like this, you will end up replacing the compressor, or at least the starter capacitor, as a seasonal activity. Museum-grade humidity control will require a unit costing thousands, not hundreds of dollars. One way to equalize humidity a little more quickly is to leave the fan running even when the compressor is off - a feature which this unit offers.

All in all, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. From the comments of others, there may be some quality control issues. I have not experienced any related problems.

Dehumidifier works great! When first plugged in, all it did was beep, until I discovered that the small knob that is in back of the collection tray had come off in shipping. Once that was popped back in, the unit works great. The basement is much better. It reduced the total level in just a couple of hours down to a much more comfortable/healthy level.

Reviewer: J. Kaplan,
This is the only dehumidifier I've owned so I don't have anything with which to compare it. This model does it's job. I can set the desired humidity and it provides a readout of the actual humidity. It also displays the temperature. I have it in the basement with the hose draining directly into the sump pump. I've been running it constantly for 6 months with no problems. The basement is about 1300 sq. ft (although I have the door to two of the rooms closed) and is open to the upstairs through a pet door. The only complaint I have is the noise. I don't spend much time in the basement, but when the fan on the dehumidifier is running full power I can hear the motor in my bedroom just above it. The sound comes up the heating units.

All the features listed above are true to form for this machine. However, the big disappointment is how loud the unit is! Picture living with a hair dryer on all the time... not good. Loudness aside, it does do a great job. Living in the midwest, I would opt for the 60-pint size- I am emptying the unit almost every 8 hours.

We just purchased this dehumidifier after reading the majority of positive views and were very excited to use it, but the unit keeps tripping the circuit breaker after running for about 5-10 minutes. The temp of the basement is about 70F and we put a 50% RH setting. We are using a surge protector and the unit is not sharing any other equipment on the outlet? Are we doing something wrong?

Reviewer: Keith T. Cobbett,
Can't speak much about actually using this product. When I received it and unboxed it, it was destroyed. Straight from the factory. No damage to the box or during shipment. Pieces were actually broken off the fact and the metal encasement was bent, but no plastic was inside the box. So, it was dropped before it was packaged at the factory, packaged anyway and then subsequently returned to Amazon. Buy from Amazon, just not this company.
humidifier-dehumidifier DeLonghi DDE40E 40-Pint-Capacity Dehumidifier Poor quality and sensor didn't work

Review Date: August 4, 2004
Reviewer: Desert Hermit, Desert
I purchased this unit based on the good comments from other reviewers. But it turned out to be a big mistake.

Sensor reading was not accurate. It showed 50% humidity while my other odometer indicated 70%. How could it be 50% humidity in the basement in August? Also, it continued to shut down after a few minutes and wouldn't go back on even I set the sensor to much lower level. Besides, it was extremely loud. It sounded like someone was using lawn mawer in the basement. I don't think anyone can stand the noise in the same room. The packaging was very poor, the bottom almost fell apart when I received it.

It looks like the sensor of this unit is defective and the quality in gernal is very poor. I have returned this unit to Amazon and purchased a different brand locally. The other brand works well and is much quiter.
humidifier-dehumidifier DeLonghi DDE40E 40-Pint-Capacity Dehumidifier impossible to keep the bucket from sliding out

Review Date: September 17, 2007
Reviewer: H. Klepper,
The thing that makes this dehumidifier unusable is that the collection bucket has no clip or detent of any kind to keep it in place. As soon as it slides back about 1/16" the unit thinks the bucket is overfull and starts it's annoying and insistent beeping. No matter how hard or how many times you push the bucket back into the unit, a few minutes later it slips back a bit. This is one of the silliest and most unnecessary design flaws I have ever seen.

humidifier-dehumidifier SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier Great all in one!!! great looking too

Review Date: March 27, 2008
Reviewer: Heather A. Clyde, Los Angeles, CA
I needed the temperature in my baby's room to stay the same even though we're in a small apartment. This really did the trick. It looks great is very compact compared to other ugly large heater humidifiers AND it is both a heater and humidifier so even when it warms up in there it does feel so dry. It also has a tip over feature, which or safety is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish you could operate the humidifer separate from the heater but you can't. Can't have it all I guess. Oh, and we have a modern looking apartment and this fits right in!

I work in a drafty office building and so I need a heater, but I also need a humidifier. I expected so much more for the price. Now I am going back to the steamer I was using before. But it looks nice.
humidifier-dehumidifier SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier Need a humidifier? DON'T buy this!

Review Date: February 19, 2009
Reviewer: E. Singer,
We bought this because of the humidifier feature. However, the humidifier is very hard to fill (You have to pour it in at a trickle), and the reservoir is tiny. Fortunately, neither of these things are really a problem because it takes weeks to even produce enough humidity to go through that tiny amount of water. I think you could literally just leave out a glass of water and it would evaporate faster than what this thing puts out. DON'T waste your money buying this. The heater is totally adequate, but you can find one just as good without the humidifier for one third the price. Buy a separate heater and humidifier and you'll still come out ahead and you'll have a humidifier that actually works. Seriously. I never take the time to write reviews, but this thing is a joke. Save your money!

humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Works great!

Review Date: November 1, 2005
Reviewer: B. T. Denyer, Midwest, United States
I installed this unit in my basement about 8 months ago, and it has been working flawlessly ever since.

Things I noticed:

If the power goes out, the unit will NOT turn back on automatically (as some other units do.)

If you want to use the continuous drainage (which I highly recommend) via a hose, you have to punch out a plastic disc on the side of the unit. I would have designed a screw-type plug that was replacable, but they didn't think of that. Anyway, once you punch the quarter-size disc out it's out forever.

If you choose to use the continuous drainage feature, you will need to pick up a hose with an inner diameter of 15mm (.59" or just over half an inch.) I went to the local DIY center and found some clear tubing that has worked well.

The unit can operate down to 2-degrees C (36-degrees F), which will be great for continuous operation in the garage to keep the tools from rusting.

Has three fan settings: med, high and quiet. "Quiet" really is quiet, and could probably work just fine in a bedroom. Though, it does warm the room it's in. How much it warms it depends on the humidity setting.

Four settings: The humidty level (humidstat) can be set to "continuous dehumidification" (which is the default setting), 50%, 60% and 70%. The fan will continue to run but the dehumidification processor will turn off when it reaches the selected humidity level. Cool. I mean, that's when the fan will just blow room-temp air.

A full drainage tank will stop the unit and illuminate a "tank full" indicator light.

The unit is not that heavy -- maybe for some, but not nearly as heavy as some people make it sound. It's 30.8 pounds.

According to the instructions: You will need at least 21 cm (about 8 inches) of clearance in front, behind and side to side. Air blows out of the top of the unit, so you'll need to make sure it's clear as well.

There are movable louvers on the top to direct the air straight up, 45-degrees or almost straight ahead.

Power consumption: CFM-25E is 220W // CFM-40E is 330W

I highly recommend this model dehumidifier.

***15-month UPDATE: It is still working like a champ! We haven't had one single problem with it, and I don't foresee ever really having one in the near future. I've been running this thing nonstop and it has only required me to clean the filter on the back (which takes 5 minutes.) It has remained as quiet as the day I bought it. It's awesome!
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Works well

Review Date: May 10, 2006
Reviewer: Justin Wolf, Oshkosh, WI
I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly basement use, but wanted one quiet enough for use upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. My refrigerator is louder. I also own a Fedders 45 pint unit and a Whirlpool 65 pint noise maker. The Fedders (Maytag) was the quiet champ untill I purchased the Soleus Air CFM-40E. The Whirlpool removes an amazing amount of water, but can be heard UPSTAIRS when running in the basement. So it is used only when needed. The Soleus Air is so quiet I have to go down the basement stairs and visually check to see if the unit is on. Can't say that for many dehumidifiers. My only complaint is that the fan is always on, even when it has reached the set humidity level. This prevents the short cycling the others do, on for 2 minutes off for 2 minutes or so, but I think prevents an Energy Star certification. At 2.9 amps it draws significantly less than the Fedders 5.6 amps and the Whirlpool's 7.9 amps.

The Soleus Air works great (so far) upstairs in the spring, when it is cool but damp, like the weather this week. Here in Wisconsin it is in the 60's but rainy, so the house is humid. Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Soleus Air CFM-40E to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, medium capacity (40pint) dehumidifier that simply does what is supposed to do (remove water from air) with out excess noise.

*******3 Year Update******
This dehumidifier has been working flawlessly for 3 years of nearly constant use. Other than cleaning the filter and the occasional collection tank clean out, maintenance has been minimal. I still can not get over how quiet this unit is, and it has not gotten any louder with age. I highly recommend this product, yes it is not cheap, but it works really well, and is very well built. Highest possible recommendation.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Excellent balance of efficiency and effectiveness

Review Date: April 22, 2005
Reviewer: Patrick Smyth, North Carolina
I currently have 5 dehumidifiers in different locations, and this one is the strikes the best balance of efficiency, reliability, effectiveness, and quietness. There are other models that can pull more moisture out of the air more quickly, but they are invariably much louder and MUCH more expensive to run.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat The quiet life, death and rebirth of a dehumidifier

Review Date: December 2, 2006
Reviewer: Shady Ave Reader, Arlington, VA
(November 2006) I joined one of the other reviewers in apologizing for being compelled to praise a dehumidifier. When our loud old humidifier finally died, I spent many frustrating trips buying and returning louder replacements (think of a 747 jet at take-off) dehumidifiers to various big-box stores.

Then I found the Soleus. It was quieter (I guess maybe 30-40db), as efficient, and smaller than anything else we could find on the market. When I plugged it in, I frankly did not think it was running - as it was that quiet. Despite its silent running it filled the bucket faster than any other one I had tried. It was also more energy efficient than the other standard brands. Even if the bucket empties slightly different than standard dehumidifiers, it could hardly be simpler.

I do agree there is an inconvenience when one has to return larger items like this from mail order and not a store. However, making returns to Home Depot or Lowes is no picnic either these days. But in this case, I would urge folks to take the chance if you cannot find it elsewhere.

I would say if you have no concern about the noise, one could go with other models. However, if you have to live in proximity to the dehumidifer - this model ought to be at the top of your list.
----
(December 2007) To update the original review, 1 year later, the dehumidifier was still working quietly. Although when the temperature was below 60(F)degrees it lost efficiency and would ice up. However, most dehumidifiers do not work well in cold temperatures.
----
(May 2008) - Well the icing up eventually caused the thermostat to blow (or vice versa) and the unit died in May 2008. It would only run on continuous mode but then would ice up making it non-functional. I could not blame cold temp any longer as the basement was now 70 degrees. Thus the unit lasted about 18 months. While I was disappointed (and would remove a star or two if Amazon would let reviewers do that), I had to say it was very good when it worked. I replaced it with a more traditional noisy dehumidifier, since I did not want to buy a humidifier every year and a half. The new one worked fine but noisily. I had to admit that I missed the quiet of the Soleus.

My comment at the time: If you want to take the risk and it works you probably will have the quietest dehumidifier on the market. But it might not last judging from my own experience and what I see from other reviewers.

Epilogue - Well the noisy replacement (Danby) died in January 2009. (To their credit Danby provided a full refund). I had, however, hated the loud noise of the Danby, so I gambled again on the Soleus. I decided NOT to revise my prior review until I had at least 6 months of operation on the Soleus to report on. Now, 8 months later, it is still working flawlessly filling a full pan of water every 24 hours, sometimes faster. It is still whisper quiet. One change I have made, is to be sure to turn it off when the relative humidity gets low, i.e. I turn it off if in a 24 hour period I don't see water collecting in the pan. Given my jinx with dehumidifiers, I did something I never ever do, I bought an extended warranty for it. So knock wood, I once again have a functioning dehumidifier, and one that can be in the same room with me and I can still hear the TV or stereo.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Does exactly what I wanted

Review Date: June 30, 2007
Reviewer: Rick Buchanan, Roanoke, Virginia United States
We purchased this dehumidifier last summer and used it all season. We've been using it this season beginning last month, and it still works like a charm. I like it for several reasons.

First, it's very light for a humidifier, with a carrying handle which makes it easy to move from one room to another in our lower level. There are wheels, but I don't use them, since the weight of the unit is about the same as a medium size packed suitcase. My wife, who weighs a hundred pounds, uses the wheels.

Second, it's extremely quiet. The last dehumidifier we used (a Kenmore, admittedly much larger) was so loud we had to turn it completely off to hear the television. The Soleus has 3 fan levels, Medium, High and Quiet, with a light which indicates the setting. Quiet, as you'd expect, is the lowest fan setting, but set on High the fan noise is not audible across a normal size room unless you're listening for it. Truthfully, there isn't much audible difference between Medium and High, so I leave it on High.

Finally, it's simple to set up and use. There are electronic controls for each function, each clearly labeled. You set a humidity level of Dry to Moist with an intermediate level in between, again with a light which indicates the setting. There's also a setting to run continuously. I have no idea how accurate the humidistat is, or what is meant by Dry or Moist. We set ours on Dry, and after the first day there was a noticeable difference. The carpet is dry as a bone, the musty odor went away, and the room (a family room about 16' X 24') is comfortably dry.

The manual says the unit can pull 40 pints of water a day from the air. I have no way to tell if this is true. The reservoir tank fills in our house about every eight to twelve hours on High and Dry settings. This obviously varies somewhat with the humidity outside, and how well your air conditioning works, etc.

There is a simple float device which triggers a switch to shut off the unit just before the tank reaches capacity, which is about 12 pints, or about 1.5 gallons. A light indicates the reservoir is full (there is a water level indicator on the front, but I can't see it when the unit is sitting on the floor), and the unit shuts off.

You grab the sides of the reservoir with your fingertips where the tank fits into the bottom of the unit and pull straight out, and there is a nice handle on top of the tank to carry the container to empty it out. It's a little heavier than a full gallon milk jug, and I easily carry it with one hand. My wife is quite small and she has no trouble carrying or emptying the tank. When you slide the empty tank back into the unit it sort of clicks into place, and the unit automatically starts running again. Very simple. There's a hole in which to install a hose (not provided) for the unit to drain continuously, but we don't use it, finding the tank more manageable and less messy.

Two things to keep in mind: One, the unit puts out heat because of its operation. Keep it in a vented place, and make sure the louvered vent on the top of the unit is open. The wider the opening the greater the discharge of heat. The heat output in our house, with the louver at its widest point, is about the same as running the air conditioner on fan in your car in summer, without the ac compressor running. In other words there is noticeably warm air venting out of the unit while it's running. It's not warm enough to be any danger to children or pets, but it might increase the temperature slightly in a very small room, and certainly in an enclosed space such as a closet.

And two, there is an air intake on the back of the unit with a simple air filter. The filter has to be removed and vacuumed periodically, or else no air can get through. Air is necessary for the unit to do its job properly, so you have to keep the filter clean. We do this about once a month, but we have a whole house filter on our furnace and air conditioner. The manual is quite clear and easily followed regarding set up, operation and maintenance.

This is the best dehumidifier we have ever used. I just bought a second one to use in our bedroom. I have no idea how long they last, but we're into our second season with no problems. I have seen reviews where the units reportedly did not work, or eventually malfunctioned, but we've never had a single problem. There is a one year warranty.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Works great

Review Date: August 19, 2006
Reviewer: M. Richardson, Wakefield, MA United States
This is our first and only dehumidifier, and is kept in our very damp basement. At the time we got the dehumidifier, our unfinished cement basement had wet spots which had formed during the very large rainstorms we had in MA earlier this year. The wet spots were not drying up on their own after months of waiting. We had never had this problem before and were not sure what we should do.

It has been very effective in reducing the humidity in our ~700 sq ft. basement from 90+% to a very comfortable 60% (although it took about a week to break 80% due to our wet floors, I assume). It is extremely quiet. I cannot hear it when I stand at the top of the basement stairs; I have to walk downstairs to see if the red light is on or not. We have to empty it twice a day.

My biggest concern before buying this product was exactly how awkward or difficult it was to empty the container - people really seemed put off by it in some reviews. But I have had no trouble at all emptying it. You have to lift the container up just a little to get it onto the tracks, but then it slides right out without any trouble.

Someone else mentioned this as well: it does significantly raise the temperature of the room. Our basement is now 5 degrees warmer than it was before (was usually 65 deg, now is 70 deg). We run it in continuous mode.

My only negative comment about this product is its short electric cord (~6 ft).

PURCHASE DECISION
I bought this unit after I discovered some signs of mold growing on a wooden door slab in my basement. The numerous reviews on this website really helped in my decision as it is highly rated from many reviewers.

INSTALLATION
Installation was a breeze. I took it out of the box and had it running in about 2 minutes.

PERFORMANCE
In the first 20 hours, I estimate that it has removed about 8 liters of water from the air in my basement. It alreadys feels noticeably drier down there and I can finally close the door again without slamming it shut.

DURABILITY
Unsure.

ENVIRONMENT
The unit is not overpackaged. There is a single plastic bag covering the unit and four small styrofoam corner supports. Amazon ships this dehumidifier in its factory box, so there is only one cardboard box to recycle.

I was a little disappointed that the unit is not Energy Star rated. In fact, there is no mention at all of it on the Energy Star product list. However, after some further research I think this unit would qualify for Energy Star status. Per this link: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=dehumid.pr_proc_dehumidifiers, you can see that a 40 pint dehumidifier should have an energy factor of at least 1.5 L/kWh. The Soleus consumes 330W of energy and removes 40 pints per day. 40 pints = 18.9 liters per day or 0.79 liters per hour. So the energy factor is 0.79 L/0.33kWh = 2.39 L/kWh--much higher than the Energy Star rating of 1.5 L/kWh.

We're using this in a 840 sq ft house to keep mildrew at bay during the rainy season. It works great. 40 pints refers to the amount of moisture it pulls out of the air, not the size of the reservoir. The fan does create a bit of air flow which can cause some "wind chill", but air circulation is overall a good thing. When enclosed in the bathroom overnight, it also does a great job of drying hand laundry! I'm very pleased to have purchased this product.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Quiet, No Leaks, Looks Great

The 40 pint reservoir is fantastic - I only need to empty the container once daily. Removing and reinserting the reservoir is simple. No leaks.

Even if I put the unit on "High" the noise is less than with most small fans. On "Quiet" I can barely hear the unit from 5 feet away.

The unit also looks great. Simple controls. It's about the size of an old electric typewriter case turned upright.

My apartment had a moisture problem; whenever it rained, my apartment seemed damp, and whenever anybody showered, the towels stayed wet for days. Soon, our closets were damp and we had to throw out many precious belongings that we couldn't salvage. I bought this dehumidifier in January, and our apartment has been blissfully dry since. We leave it running on all the time for maximum dryness, and we dump buckets of water each day. It works very well, and sucks all moisture out of the air, making our apartment much warmer and livable. It is also very quiet, not loud like an air conditioner like I thought it would be. I hardly notice the hmm that it makes while it's on. I highly recommend this dehumidifier!
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Very quiet

I first bought a whirlpool dehumifier because our rented apartment was so damp that we had to put our towels in the dryer after every use. It was so loud with lots of vibration noises that we took it back. After lots of research we bought the Soleus and it's been great - it's very quiet even on a hard floor, it had no trouble drying our 400sq ft apartment and being able to direct the dry air flow means you can point it into damp cupboards /at damp walls /clothing etc.

The only downsides are that it does not turn back on after you lose power (we have lots of power cuts) and I would prefer a clear bucket to see when it needs emptying (the small clear strip it has is very difficult to see through).

I think I have purchased nine dehumidifiers over the past ten years since I have them in three locations and they just don't seem to last. I started with the Whirlpool units and was very disappointed with their quaility. They were loud, had a horrible bucket design and a crude connection for hose drainage. When they broke after a few years, I replaced them with Maytag dehumidifiers. The Maytags were better designed but the fan was very loud and they too broke within two or three years. I replaced two of them with an LG and a Frigidaire which are nothing special.

The other I replaced with a Soleus CFM-40. I know it's hard to get excited about a dehumidifier but this one is about perfect. It is extremely quiet (even on the highest fan setting, you have to stand next to it to hear it run). It is about half the size of the other dehumidifiers I've owned and uses about half the energy as well. It is well designed and appears very well made with good quality plastics.

This unit is in my 1,500 sq/ft basement and it has no problem keeping the humidity level at around 50%. Time will tell if it can last longer than the others but based on other reviews I am optimistic.

The unit is very quiet and portable. You have to cut out a tab to access the external drain and also cut a garden hose to use as piping. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, the unit does not automatically restart after the power goes off and the fan is always going, regardless if it is actually dehumidifying.
humidifier-dehumidifier Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat Works very well, but beware if you're buying for this reason....

Reviewer: Jessica Parets,
This is the first dehumidifier we've owned, so I'm relying on the opinion of the other reviewers on how much quieter it is than other models. We've had ours for a few weeks now, and it is quiet - no louder than our computer. It removes the water very well, with no leaking.

The only problem for us is this, and it would probably be true with any dehumidifier, but just beware: We bought this because humidity aggravates my son's eczema (skin rash). We had been lowering the air conditioner at night to knock the water out of the air, and so I thought we would be able to raise the air temperature while still achieving the same level of comfort with the dehumidfier (any maybe save on the electricity bill). But I didn't realize how warm the air coming out of the dehumidifer would be (when the compressor is running). It raises the temperature upstairs (where we use it) by 2-3 degrees, so I have to lower the air conditioner down again to compensate!

Oh, well. Hopefully the low energy consumption of the dehumidfier will at least make it a nearly-break-even endeavor, as far as the utility bill goes!

I admit to being a skeptic when I read the reviews that said how quiet the unit was as I have suffered through many an hour of listening to my other dehumidifiers loud noises. This unit is truly quiet, and also efficient. My basement air is DRY now. The only hassle is that it does not come with a hose for continuous drainage and the size needed seems a bit difficult - 15 mm inside diameter. Right now I am emptying the unit but will try to find a hose to fit soon. I highly recommend this unit if you want a quiet, efficient dehumidifer.

I decided, just before the summer heat started, to buy only one air conditioner for my bedroom and a dehumidifier for the living room to provide some comfort. Believe it or not it works great! At least this brand does. My living room has 10' ceilings and is approximately 400 square feet (including a kitchen.) The room is still warm especially when the temperature reaches 80, but there is no discomfort. The only down side is the warm air released by unit. The living room cools off as long as I have my Vornado fan (best fan in the world) blowing cool air from the bedroom to living room.

If you need a dehumidifier in you home, than there is no question in my mind, this is the one to own, and used every day. First of all, it's beautiful, and that means something. There are no sharp corners, all the edges have been rounded. What this tells you is that the functional design inside was also thought about on the outside.

It required a minimum amount of time to put together, and this could easily be done by someone who is not handy. Although the price is not cheap, it is comprable to what is out there on the market. When I took the time to examine what the mass retailers had for sale, I was extremely please that this product by Soleus was my final choice.

It clearly does the job, and basically is almost soundless. What little sound it does emit, is not bothersome. This means I am willing to tell you that you can put it in any room in your house, and even your bedroom where you sleep. It will not disturb you.

I have owned it for several months now, and continue to be pleased with its performance. It is on all the time. The best thing you can ask about any product is whether or not the consumer would be willing to buy it again. The answer is yes I would, because I purchased a second one a few months after owning the first one. Both are performing admirably. Only time will tell as to the long-term reliability of both machines.

I would add that they are also beautiful to look at. The construction quality is excellent. The buttons are easy to used, and understand. Soleus has built a knock me out product, and I couldn't be more pleased with owning it. Try it, before you buy any other brand, try this one. Good luck.

Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat

WOW! I can't tell you how difficult it was for me to for me to find a quiet dehumidifier. This unit has it all. It's whisper quiet, it sucks water out of the air like a sponge, it's small, it's very nice looking and uses only 330 Watts. Tell me, what more could you ask??

I put this unit in my living room and it covers a total of 4 rooms/700SqFt perfectly.

Within a period of about 6 weeks, before I bought this unit, I tried a Frigidaire Frigidaire FDL601P 60-Pint Portable Dehumidifier and a DeLonghi DE500P Dehumidifier - 50 Pint with Condensate Pump. They were both much larger, very loud and drew twice the power of the Soleus unit.

As an engineer, I really appreciate a well designed and manufactured product. Clearly, this is one worthy of such praise. Almost all other dehumidifiers follow the same model, big, boxy, loud, and for the most part, primitive in design. The Soleus is different. Their folks sat down with a clean sheet of paper a designed a terrific product. I've had mine for 3 weeks and wouldn't want to do without it.

I tried hard to buy this locally, on Long Island, NY, but no chance. I bought mine online from a retailer in Oregon...they were great.

I got the penguin humidifier a week ago after researching multiple brands, some expensive ones, filter ones, big ones, warm ones, etc. And I read the reviews about it leaking or breaking on this one, and essentially there was some complaint on just about every brand out there--always a few problems. So for the $30 this one cost (and the fact that it is ridiculously adorable!) it seemed to cover what I needed: something that was not expensive, not too large and bulky, smaller reservoir so more fresh water going through it (and less water sitting around getting ookey) and would add humidity where ever it was.

It has been running almost non-stop for a week, minus filling times or when we were out, and has worked perfectly. The body reservoir, even when running on high, has lasted at least 16 hours. I haven't had problems with white dust on everything like my old-fashioned gigantic noisy one (I use tap water), and it doesn't spray water drops out with the mist either. It definitely made a difference running at night in the bedroom--no noses and throats feeling 'dry as dust' in the AM. The penguin has a small footprint, about 9" diameter and 12.75" tall. It runs almost silently BUT it does make a trickling noise and actually sounds like our tabletop fountain. It's a nice sound during the day but wore on me during the night; I wasn't used the sound and I kept thinking it's leaking when it wasn't. So now I run it for a while before bed and I sleep much better all around.

Things to watch out for though... the reservoir opening where you fill it, there is a screw-on cap with a spring-valve (like what's at the bottom of your coffee maker basket). There should be a silicone O-ring that fits in the top of the cap. Our O-ring was inside the opening, and since it was clear-ish could be easily missed. The O-ring could cause the cap to leak if not seated properly and the cap needs to be tightened snuggly. When filled and righted (there's even a little handle to carry it by) it should only drip slightly out of the spring-valve. Check that nothing is clogging the spring-valve by pressing it in (before filling) and that the flap is not folded. Only use COLD water in the reservoir, and if you boiled water WAIT for it to be room temp before using. Using hot water could definitely cause this plastic to crackle and crack. The body must sit squarely on the 'butt' or it can dribble over the side a tiny bit.

We have had absolutely no problems with this little cutie, and if I do I'll update my posting. It has a nice rocker on-off switch on his 'left butt cheek'. It has a dial on the front (I'll call it his bellybutton) to adjust the amount of mist; even on high he doesn't drip. The mist dial doesn't seem to affect the fountain noise at all; i.e. the lesser misting does not lessen any gurgling it does. A great little design and it does the job!

This frog humidifier is wonderful. I'm so glad I finally decided to get one after reading reviews on it since last winter. Unlike this picture, the actual product is a true Granny Smith apple green, or some might call it lime green.

PROS
-quiet
-no expensive filter required. (my Holmes humidifier requires a new $13 filter about every 6 weeks)
-shuts off automatically when it runs out of water
-easy to refil water
-simple and easy to use
-cute!

CONS
-tiny green light is on when humidifier is in use and I persoanlly like a very dark bedroom at night. I just tape a dark piece of paper over it and problem solved. But it can also be a night light for a child's room.
-must be on a nightstand or some sort of elevated surface. Some people might not have that room to spare.
-it may be TOO cute and irresitible for little ones to keep their hands off it at first. But the newness wears off.

I bought the cow, the penguin and the elephant. The penguin is the best at disbursing the mist. The cow is the hardest to figure - the mist comes out of its ears. The elephant trunk is good but it's a smaller opening than the penguin's mouth. All three are very quiet and have a large range of mist options. None require a filter which is GREAT but I add a humidifier water cleaner to keep them from getting that pink slime that's gross and moldy. My girls LOVE these humidifiers and, assuming the motors hold up well, I'd get any of them again. VERY good price performers compared with some others I've purchased.
humidifier-dehumidifier Crane 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Hello Kitty Read the Manual

We read a lot of the reviews before deciding to buy the Crane Penguin. Some of the lower stars almost deterred us from buying it, but we tried it anyways because it's so cute. And we're happy we did.

For all those who complained about it (white dust, hard to clean, loud noise, the handle breaks, etc.) I've got one thing to say:---- READ THE MANUAL, PEOPLE. ---- All of those issues are spoken about with the included documentation and how to avoid or minimize them.

For example, the white dust has nothing to do with the humidifier. It's the minerals that your local water company puts in the water system. The documentation tells you specifically "filtered or distilled water is recommended to avoid white dust if your tap water is too hard." Or you can buy an optional filter for the unit. But you would get the white dust with ANY humidifier without a filter. We happen to not have hard tap water, so depending on your area, it may not even be a problem.

Also, there is a section on general maintenance and cleaning. To keep the inside of the tank clean, it explains first, don't let water sit in the tank for more than two days while bacteria can build up. That's just common sense. Secondly, just add a few drops of household bleach to the water every fourth time you fill it. But even if the tank does start to have noticeable mineral deposits or bacteria, it gives simple instructions to use a teaspoon of bleach with a gallon of water, swish it around for a while, then dump it. What's so hard about that?

I won't go into everything else because you can just read the instructions for yourself if you buy it. But my point is that you should not be dissuaded from buying this humidifier because of some other comments. It's been wonderful for us and it does it's job.

We have had this product for 2 years and love it! It generates a little (not a lot) of white noise - which you may/may not prefer, but we think is a plus. The mist comes out of the holes over the eyeballs, so it goes straight up in the air to fill the room. You use the knob to control the rate - the instructions say to turn it on high and then turn back until it only goes up instead of down to make sure you get the right amount. We run only at night and refill every 2-3 days. It is filter-less, and is the easiest humidifier I've ever cleaned! I do recommend the additional blue purifier; it screws in where the cap goes, so very easy. And for those wondering, our toddler knows it's a frog, but he doesn't play with it like we worried he would. I wish they had a non-animal version for our room! If you need a humidifier for a child, I highly recommend this product!

What's not to love about this cute cow humidifier? My 18 month old son loves talking to his "friend" in the morning when he wakes. I purchased this humidifier specifically because it is ultrasonic and needs no filter (unlike many of the VICKS brand which we have used in the past) and the cute factor is a bonus. It runs whisper-silent, is easy to refill and adjust the moisture output and clean. Excellent design, excellent product.

I was going to buy the frog cool mist himidifier but I saw they made it in SpongeBob and had to have it. This little cool mister puts out quite a bit of cool mist and keeps the dry winter air inside my home tollerable. The mist is cool & doesn't make the room feel damp, stuffy or smell funny. It will last about 36hrs without refilling, BUT I refill/rinse mine every 24hrs. Other humidifiers I've tried have to be reiflled 3-5 tims a day and don't produce near the results that this one does! I use mine in my family room and kitchen, and it works excellent in smaller rooms. If you have dry skin in the winter like my family does, give this or one of the other cool mist humidifiers a try. You will see a difference in a few short hours. My skin irritation was cut in half from the use of this. I'm getting ready to buy a second one in the frog model for my bedroom.
*The SpongeBob model has a built in soft night light that is adorable! I don't know if the other models have night lights or not.*

06-01-08 UPDATE: An Amazon member asked me where the steam comes out of... on SpongeBob there are two holes on the top of his head that the cool mist shoots out of! It is ADORABLE and would make a CUTE table center piece at a child's birthday party or classroom!

I'm a college student, and don't have time to maintain it.

This humidifier is easy to use: it does not require a filter, so no soggy gross filter every few month. If you use distilled water, the humidifier will get dirty after, like, a year of use. If you are lazy and use tap water like me, white minerals will form and you should clean it at least every 3-6 month. A toothbrush and a little normal kitchen cleaner is sufficient for this.

The water tank will start to smell after 1.5 yrs of use (if you only leave water in when in use, but do not clean it). Some bleach and vinigar will get rid of it, be sure to use water to get the stuff out before using.

If you are using it for a baby or kid, a cleaning once or twice a month would probably be better. It works best on a hard clean surface, not on carpet (the fan is on the bottom).

It does a good job, is low maintaince, and is cute.

I love my "penelope penguin" humidifier - I purchased her at Target for around $40 bucks and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I sleep with it on medium setting throughout the night and notice I awake in the mornings with clear sinus, less chest congestion.

It's very easy to maintain and fill, the steam comes out of her beak, which cracks me up because it reminds me of a person smoking or being at the hookah bar.

all in all, i'd recommend this item to others.

humidifier-dehumidifier Crane 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Hello Kitty Penguin a Big Help for Winter Air Issues

After quite a bit of research, I picked this humidifier and I am very pleased with it; I bought for my husband and myself, not for a kid. I purchased it to help with dry, indoor air conditions. I try to be a smart shopper and found this item reviewed very positively in Consumer Report and elsewhere. I was concerned about bacterial/microbial growth and the white dust humidifiers often produce, so I also purchased the Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge for Crane Frog, Cow, Pig, Panda, Penguin and Elephant Cool Mist Humidifiers, and the ProTec PC2 Humidifier Tank Cleaning Cartridge (2 pack) that keep the water clean. The demineralization filter is supposed to last a couple of months, and the drop-in cleaning cartridges last for 30 days. I have also seen these items at Target. After a few months, this humidifier is working beautifully, tank is clean, no white dust. We both have enjoyed the benefits of more humid air in the winter, with both our nasal passages and throats being more comfortable when we wake up in the morning, as well as improvement in painfully dry skin (winter eczema).
The feature that I absolutely love is the adjustable output knob.
It is also quiet enough to run all night.
I also love the playful appearance of the item. It matches our blue and white bedroom.

We live in the arid conditions of Las Vegas; the winters here are pretty harsh on the system (Low humidity, dust devils, hard water, etc)
DH and I developed dry skin conditions after a couple of winters, so we bought a humidifer from a well known pharmacy out of desperation -bad move- we should have researched it! Non-filter, noisy, left the well known white mineral powder all over the furniture (even with distilled water) not to mention it also left us with an awful smell and taste in our mouths in the morning...Yuck!
DH and I not being fickle purchasers, we really tried to make it work for us, but enough was enough!
So off surfing Amazon I went-I'm a great fan of Amazon and it's users, without their reviews I wouldn't have found this great product!

I bought the Dragon shape, the mist comes out of two slots on top of it's eyes, I use it everynight on mid-high output and so far it's had no problems. It's really cool to look at but more importantly- IT WORKS!
It's not noisy, except for the odd bubble here and there while the water level goes down, you can control the output, the mist is almost invisible
(I still use distilled as we don't have a water softner in the home yet)
No weird taste and our sinus issues are no longer, it's even helped with DH's snoring!

Personally I did't find any cons, the other reviewers who gave it 1 star must have had duds, but c'mon people it's a machine...they're not all going to be perfect and even so- Amazon will replace it with another one! Win-Win!

These Crane ultra sonics are all 1 gallon, when you re-fill it you can't put it on a flat surface because the handle used to lift it out of the base is in the way, but that doesn't phase me,doesn't make me want to give it a negative review - just use common sense and place it on a bunched up towel and hold it with the other hand.

The odd poor review shouldn't give you a bad impression, not all machines are going to suit everyone, but ultimately it's the design you choose which makes it the one for you.

After an exhaustive search of what was on the market, I decided to go with the Crane penguin humidifier. I wanted something that was fairly inexpensive, small, quiet, something that didn't need to be refilled constantly. This humidifier is all those things and more. The humidifier started working immediately after I turned it on and I can run it for 2 nights without refilling it (I turn the humidifier off when I'm not in the room or at work). This was for my personal use and not for a child or a nursery. I didn't think the design was too childish. It's cute, inconspicuous and works like a charm. I highly recommend it!

humidifier-dehumidifier Crane 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Hello Kitty Great Humidifier!

This little humidifier does a great job, and it is easy to keep clean. So far I have seen no accumulations or particles and that is great, since humidifier i had prior to this one was impossible to clean, had a filter that was getting dirty way too soon and to top it of, it also was beginning to grow some kind of black mold around the motor.

All you have to do is to empty it, whipe it down and that is pretty much it. Cute design for a child's room, my daughter loves it. The only drawback (at least for me) is that it should plug directly into the outlet (not the extension cord) and it does says so in the instructions. The reason i think is that you have to lift the entire unit to empty the water, since there is a chamber in the base of the humidifier that also fills with water while operating. I did not have an outlet near the place where i planned to place it and had to improvise. Other than that it is good product and so far works great, highly recommend it.
